The Gex county, Monts Jura and the Haut Jura Natural Regional Park

Gex invites you to come and follow the historic path around the town and discover its fountains and monuments. 

Ferney Voltaire, where Voltaire built his residence in 1759. The castle and themed guided tours take you back to the time of this famous inhabitant whose presence  contributed greatly to the development of the village. 

Collonges and the impressive  Fort l'Ecluse,  which watches over the entrance to the Rhône Narrows.  1165  steps separate the upper fort from the lower fort... The fort was a natural barrier. 

The ski resort at the  Monts Jura enables you, in both summer and winter, to get some altitude up on the Haut Jura mountain chain. Sport and outdoor activities, precious stone and lapidary museam, alpine cheese makers, fresque visits. 


The Haut Jura Natural Regional Park in the heart of the Jura moutains, is a  preserved site offering the possibility to discover the environment, heritage and know how of the  area. 

Technical and scientific tourism can be organized at St Genis with the Cern (the European Centre of Nuclear research)  which has been at the to height of fundamental physics since its foundation in 1954. 





Major Swiss and French cities less than an hour and half from Divonne !

Genevathe city on the edge of the lake is less than half an hour from Divonne. Famous for its jet fountain, its international  quarter where several global organizations have their headquarters (UN, WTO, Red Cross...) Geneva is a savvy combination of past, present and the future be it thanks to its history, heritage or way of life. 

Lausanne (40 min), capital of the Vaud canton, is set on 3 hills with the differnet quarters connected by numerous bridges and viaducts. The International Olympic Committee has been based here since 1915 and there is the Olympic Museum.  The cathedral in the historic part of the city is one of the most beautiful gothic monuments in Switzerand. 

Annecy (1h15), the prefecture of the Haute Savoie region, known for its lake and historic centre. Walks along the Thiou canal,  castle and prison visits, shopping along the pedestrian streets. 

Chamonix (1h30), international alpine capital. The Mont Blanc reigns over the valley.  The 'aiguille du midi' cable car, Ice sea, the Montenvers cogwheel railway, the Mt Blanc tunnel  to go directly through to Italy. 

Gruyères (1h30), a medieval village located in the green landscape of the Fribourgeoise pre-alps. The castle which dominates the village is one of the most prestigious in Switzerland.  Cheese and fondu tastings in the alpine cheese workshops.




Visit the Lake Léman area that is so near by

The charming village of Nyon was founded by Julius Ceaser and is a pleasure to visit for those who love wandering around flower-lined streets and museums. (Roman and the Léman region)

Yvoire, is a floral medieval village on the french side of lake Léman. You can reach it by road (direction Thonon) or by a CGN boat that leaves from Nyon or Geneva. 

Coppet is famous for Mme de Staël's 18th century castle where she held beautiful litterature seminars where the intellectuals of the time liked to come and meet.
